Welcome to our class page.

Ein thema yr hanner tymor yma yw 'Byw yng Nghymru'.

Wales Red Dragon

Our theme this term is ‘Living in Wales’.

Here is our class charter:

Treat others as we would like to be treated.

We have the right to play and rest.

We make each other smile and help to challenge everyone's learning.

We have the right to a safe and secure classroom environment.

To show respect and be polite and helpful to all classmates and adults.

We will laugh when we can and listen when we should.

We have the right to a good quality education.

We will start the theme by learning all about Living in Wales. The children will start by researching the different landmarks in Wales and record the positions of these landmarks on a map of Wales. Children will be learning the compass points in Maths and will be able to use Mathematical vocabulary to explain the position of these landmarks. In Welsh, children will be learning 'Y Tywydd'. They will take part in being a weather person explaining what the weather will be like in different parts of Wales, using their knowledge of Welsh landmarks and compass positions.

Class 3CJ will be learning about one of the best loved folklore stories of Wales the story of Gelert, the faithful dog. Using Pie Corbett methods the children will learn the story by using symbolic actions that represent words in the story. Over time the children will be able to write a story map then write the story in their own words. If you want to read and / or listen to the story click on this link and it will take you to the myths and legends website: Myths and Legends Website.

11 10 Aberfan 1

Children will learn about the disaster in Aberfan and the oil spill in Pembrokeshire. From watching videos they will learn how to take notes and write recounts about the disasters. In P4C sessions, children can share and discuss their thoughts and feelings about the disaster that happened.

Mair Eleri 2 Mair Eleri 1

By looking at the work of Welsh artist Mair Eleri, the children can create bright colourful images using watercolours and pastels on a small canvass. Half will do paintings of Burry Port, the other will do Beddgelert, then the children will have a discussion on the comparions of the landscapes.

To find out what your child will be doing this autumn term you can click on the link below and read the different activities.

We will soon share pictures with you to show you the work we do in class 3CJ.
