KS2: Lowri, Poppy, Jamie, Amie, Caera, Nathanael, Chloe & Levi

The committee have worked hard to produce an ECO code:

Eco Code

Since the amalgamation of the Junior and Infant schools, a new ECO committee has been elected by class elections. They have been very busy in promoting the ECO Code in and around the school by arranging several events through out the year. To inform parents and carers of these events, a newsletter is published termly.

Here are some of the events that have taken place over the past year.

RSPB Feed the birds day.

The ECO Committee were keen to take part in this event. Each class teacher provided exciting activities that highlighted the importance of looking after our garden birds. Some went bird spotting, some made bird feeders from recycled materials and some baked bird seed cakes.

Fairtrade fortnight.

We had great fun celebrating Fairtrade. We went Fairtrade spotting in Co-Op, cooked pancakes using Fairtrade ingredients, painted the Fairtrade logo and much, much more.

Tidy tea break.

To raise funds for Tidy Wales, the Eco Committee held a Tidy Tea break where they sold lots of tasty cakes at break time. So many cakes were eaten, we raised £175.21.

Rags to riches for Schools

The committee enrolled on a new scheme this year called Rags To Riches for Schools. This is where all children were given a donation bag to fill with unwanted items of clothing, material, toys etc. It was very successful and we managed to collect 225Kg's @ 65p/kilo. As a result we raised £ 146.25 which has been used to improve the outside areas of the school.

We are very fortunate to have lovely green space around our school. To make the most of this, our brave and enthusiastic teachers decided to organise a Camping experience. Many children signed up for the event and lots of fun was had trying to pitch so many tents. This is where the parents got involved. Although it was extremely exciting, after the midnight feasts, some sleep was had and snoring could be heard around the camp.

Walks in the community, Road Safety and Walk to school week

Every term, the children participate in a walk to school campaign.  Here, each class keeps a record of how the children have travelled to school that week.  We also arrange a walking bus during this week.

Where possible the children are given several opportunities to learn about Road Safety both in class and in thee community.
