Music Colour Splash

Croeso i Flwyddyn 4

Our theme this term is 'Playlists'

This term, class 4CJ will be learning all about playlists: Ssh… what’s that noise? A bash? A crash? A shake, a rattle or a low, bass hum? Take out your earplugs as you journey through the valley of sound and find out about instruments, the sounds they make and how they are produced. Discover how sounds are made and which sounds travel the furthest!

Children will be learning about different music and singing techniques that are popular in countries around the world. Pupils in class 4CJ, will learn key research skills when searching the internet safely about their musical hero and will produce a short 20 second talk, sharing interesting facts.

Animation 2

We will be studying Buddhism this term looking at the 8 Noble Foldpaths, Nirvana day (Feb) and Songkran (New Year) celebrated in April. To celebrate Easter, we will be studying Palm Sunday and the resurrection of Jesus.

Pupils will be creating pieces of art that look like music airwaves. Using colours and depth of lines to show meaning.

Below is a rough outline of the many possibilities and experiences your child may encounter to develop a variety of literacy, numeracy, digital and other cross-curricular skills.

Building Learning Power

We have been very busy placing our learning habits in to lessons inside and outside the classroom. Here is a list of the learning habits we have learnt about so far:

Meta Learning

Revisiting Perseverance

Revisiting Collaboration

Revisiting Questioning

We are revisiting questioning and together we will be looking at ways in which we can improve the questions we ask by encouraging pupils to become intrigued and to notice what the answers to the questions reveal and exploring the different effects of closed and open questions.
