Building Learning Power:

We will be very busy this term to continue building our learning habits in order to become better learners and unlock our own potential. We have developed a growth mindset to learning and love to be challenged and pushed out of our comfort zone as that is when real learning takes place.

The focus for this term is Perseverance

Perseverance:         Spider

We use Percy perseverance and our stuck strategies when we find things difficult. Percy has helped us to develop grit and determination to succeed in all that we do.

Collaboration:       Ant

Working with each other has taught us to develop an atmosphere of cooperation where we have developed our problem solving skills. We understand that everyone has a vital part to play in achieving a shared goal. We share out job tasks during group work, treat each other fairly and value everyone's ideas and opinions as we are all as important as each other. We love nothing more than working as a team in 5DB.

Questioning:        Dog

We are very curious in 5DB and love to question everything. We enjoy using the thinking dice and Bloom's taxonomy to promote thinking, formulate higher order questions and challenge the thinking of others.

 Listening:         Rabbit

We are so excited to be part of a very special project on Patagonia. We are learning a trilingual approach to developing our vocabulary in English, Welsh and Spanish through listening to the beautiful tunes played on orchestral instruments by musicians from the British Orchestra that will visit our school to carry out workshops with us.

 Imagining:    Screen Shot 2017 05 22 At 101233 AM

We develop our imagining muscles by writing descriptive story settings, working as detectives to analyse clues and draw character profiles as well as working on our mind's eye through stilling technique. Creativity is key!

Reasoning:       Screen Shot 2017 05 22 At 101224 AM

Developing problem solving, lateral thinking and reasoning have been a key focus of our lessons this term. We have enjoyed tackling puzzles and investigations and are learning to clarify our thinking, justify our opinions and counter argue.

PE kit is needed every Tuesday and Friday.

If your child attends netball club they will also need kit on a Thursday.
