Croeso i Flwyddyn 6
Welcome to Year 6SE
We would like to wish you a very warm welcome to our class page and hope that you can support us in our learning in order to 'aim for the moon' and to achieve so much in 2017-18!
Please click on the link below to see what is coming up for us in the near future:-
Our Class Charter:
We are a Rights Respecting school and follow the UNCRC through our class charter we have created together. We believe these articles are a high priority for us to focus on in order to achieve our rights and follow our responsibilities.
Building Learning Power:
We have been very busy building our learning habits in order to become better learners and unlock our own potential. We have developed a growth mindset to learning and love to be challenged and pushed out of our comfort zone as that is when real learning takes place.
We use Percy perseverance and our stuck strategies when we find things difficult. Percy has helped us to develop grit and determination to succeed in all that we do.
Working with each other has taught us to develop an atmosphere of cooperation where we have developed our problem solving skills. We understand that everyone has a vital part to play in achieving a shared goal. We share out job tasks during group work, treat each other fairly and value everyone's ideas and opinions as we are all as important as each other. We love nothing more than working as a team in 6DB.
We are very curious in 6SE and love to question everything. We enjoy using the thinking dice and Bloom's taxonomy to promote thinking, formulate higher order questions and challenge the thinking of others.
We are so excited to be part of a very special project on Patagonia. We are learning a trilingual approach to developing our vocabulary in English, Welsh and Spanish through listening to the beautiful tunes played on orchestral instruments by musicians from the British Orchestra that will visit our school to carry out workshops with us.
We develop our imagining muscles by writing descriptive story settings, working as detectives to analyse clues and draw character profiles as well as working on our mind's eye through stilling technique. Creativity is key!
Developing problem solving, lateral thinking and reasoning have been a key focus of our lessons this term. We have enjoyed tackling puzzles and investigations and are learning to clarify our thinking, justify our opinions and counter argue.
