At Burry Port Community Primary School, we encourage every child to fully participate in the life of the school. This means every child has voice when decisions are being made that affect them, and being actively involved in making decisions. This right is set out in Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Every class has a Class Council that meets at least one a month to discuss matters that affect them. What is discussed in Class Council is often then taken to School Council to discuss further.
On the first Monday of every month, all our Councils meet. We have the following Councils at our school:
- School Council
- Rights Ambassadors
- Digital Leaders
- Healthy Schools
- Criw Cymraeg
- Site Managers
- Playground Peacemakers
- Sports Ambassadors
